National Sustainability Challenge 2026
“Inspiring Innovation. Rewarding Creativity. Raising Transformative Leaders”
A nationwide programme inviting teams of two secondary-school students to identify a real sustainability problem in their school or local community and develop a practical, evidence-based solution.
Two Students Per Team
Exactly two currently enrolled secondary school students from the same Nigerian school (JSS1 to SS3).
One Teacher / School Mentor
Supported by a designated faculty mentor who serves as the official communication contact.
Inclusive Innovation & Evidence
Phase 1 rewards local problem understanding, evidence, and creativity. No expensive prototype or lab equipment needed.

Phase 1: Applications
Online submission of team details, problem evidence, and 10 challenge questions.
Semi-Finals
Independent panel review of applications against the 100-point rubric.
National Grand Finals
Top finalist teams pitch live to leading sustainability experts, investors, and national leaders.
The 100-Point Scorecard (8 Review Criteria)
Every submission is evaluated independently by our accredited review panel. Minimum recommended advancement score to the Semi-Finals is 70 points.
Is the problem specific, locally relevant, and understood beyond symptoms?
Credible observations, surveys, student measurements, and community interviews.
Logical mechanism, practical ingenuity, and clear difference from existing ideas.
Realistic development path with accessible local resources and safety awareness.
Plausible environmental, social, or economic benefit aligned with selected SDGs.
Path to expand beyond the immediate school community with partnerships.
Genuine student-led thinking with complementary roles and mutual mastery.
